Individual Counseling
The Journey Begins here.
The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm going on an adventure!
Merry met traveler! It seems you have heard the call to adventure, that a part of you has recognized it is time to leave the comfort of home and with the support of a mentor or adventuring party, to begin a journey filled with challenges, growth, and treasure. At Hero’s Journey Counseling we view the act of seeking counseling as the first step in hero’s journey at that we are lucky enough to join you on that journey for as long as our support and guidance allows you to move towards your goals.

You have my sword...
While on our adventure we will use many tools, however the primary way that I support adventures on their journey is by using a nuerodiversity affirming and anti-oppression model of counseling. My approach uses a combination of strengths based work and skills building. This includes elements from DBT, ACT, Narrative, and Geek Therapy. In addition education, resource and support building are a part of my approach so that when our time traveling together is done you are better prepared for your trials ahead.

Alll that is gold does not glitter
If you are interested in traveling together on your journey towards healing there are a few things you need to know about me. Currently I see clients Tuesday-Thursday 11am-7pm EST. Sessions are $175 per session (initial intake session $200) and I accept the following health insurance plan(s): VT Medicaid, Bluecross Blueshield. If I do not accept your insurance please see the information below about sliding scales.
Sliding Scale
$70-90
Community Support
This fee is for clients who are struggling and would benefit from counseling. If you are someone who rarely goes out to eat, struggles to have your basic needs met (i.e. food, rent, medical expenses, etc.) this is the tier for you. This tier is my gift back to the community by offering my services at a reduced rate for those that I am not able to accept insurance from or who do not have insurance to begin with.
$90-125
Breaking Even
This fee is for clients who are able to meet their basic needs and would benefit from counseling at reduced rate. If you are someone who can go out to eat a couple times a month and your basic needs are being met (i.e. food, housing, medical expenses, etc. ) then this is the tier for you. This tier allows me to meet my basic needs and keep my practice running.
$125-175
Giving Back
This fee is for clients who are easily able to meet their basic needs and are able to do extra things beyond it with ease. If you are someone who can go out to eat weekly, take 1-2 vacations a year (that include travel), and your basic needs are being met (food, housing, medical expenses, etc.) then this is the tier for you. This tier also helps supplement sessions in the $50-75 range so that I can continue giving back to the community.
While I do accept some insurance(s), I am not able to be paneled with all of them. Due to this I have a sliding scale fee for those who cannot afford my full $175 per session fee. Please see below for the tiers provided. New clients are not expected to provide proof of monetary income. The fee that is paid is based off what the client can afford based on their own knowledge of their finances and if there is an opening at that tier level currently.

Please see the guide for suggestions above. However if you need further guidance please check out the infograph from Ride Free Fearless Money for further guidance.

Income ebbs and flows based on employment, illness, family needs, and more. Due to this if at any time you are at a tier that you can no longer sustain, please feel free to reach out via email, text message, or ask in session about reducing the fee. Similarly, if things improve I ask that you consider increasing your tier to make room for new folks who may need that tier to access counseling.

Maybe. Currently, I only accept VT Medicaid and BCBS due to the logistics of being paneled with other insurance companies. However, I am working towards paneling with Medicare and MVP at this time. Due to the changing nature of health insurance and reimbursement rates that make it challenging to meet my own basic needs, it is unlikely I will panel with many other insurance panels beyond these.

I do not see anyone under 18 yrs. old. While I have a background in working with children and many children would likely enjoy a geek therapy approach, I have opted to work only with adults. If this changes at any time I will update the information.

At this time I do not offer relationship counseling. My hope is to offer this in the future so that queer, polyamorous, and/or nuerodivergent folk can see a provider who is knowledgable in these areas.

I only offer telehealth appointments at this time and do not anticipate this changing. As a nuerodivergent therapist telehealth offers me the ability to see more clients while also accommodating my own care needs.
